Sunday 15 April 2018 – spatial listening with broadcasting streaming audio.
With a complex setup we listened to an expanded stereo streaming broadcast, meaning that the left and the right audio channel are produced by two separate people on the streets of Berlin. As listeners we did not know how far these two people were apart (2 meters, 10 or even further). So while listening we realized we were trying to create one coherent audio space form the two channels.
More detailed tech setup explained:
• for the microphone side: 2 phones with an audio streaming/braodcast app installed (that does not filter the incoming audio – important); 2 omni-surround lavalier microphones attached.
• for the listening side: 2 seperate laptops for receiving the left and right channel, seperately connected to a left and right channel of an amplifier, 2 loud speakers with a broad audio spectrum (so no internal corrections like bass boost).
